Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We seek a permanent full-time (36 hours per week) Civil Infrastructure Tutor to join our School of Trades and Technology team. This position  can have a home base anywhere in the Hawke's Bay or Gisborne. The goal as Civil Infrastructure Tutor is to enhance the educational journey of students enrolled in the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works programs. By delivering thorough guidance in both theoretical principles and hands-on techniques. Creating an engaging and interactive learning atmosphere, we foster curiosity, innovation, and personal development, empowering students to thrive in their careers and make meaningful contributions to infrastructure advancement, not only in New Zealand but also on a global scale.

The Civil Infrastructure Tutor is based at our EIT | Te Pūkenga Hawke’s Bay campus reporting to the Head of School Trades and Technology and will be responsible for: 

  • Prepare, update and continually develop appropriate curriculums for all courses and implementation of new courses in line with Academic Board requirements.
  • Provide clearly defined learning objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Regularly review and revise subject matter, teaching content and process relative to changing environments.
  • Effectively facilitate the learning process through a wide variety of experiences and activities by encouraging students to participate in and accept responsibility for their own learning.
  • Provide relevant practical learning experiences.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive knowledge and practical skills in infrastructure plant operating.
  • Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Administration and organisational skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience in the Infrastructure industry.
  • Teaching experience preferred but not essential.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification essential.
  • Qualified NZTA assessor for W,T,R endorsements desirable not essential.
