Fixed term Art & Design Tutor (.4 FTE)
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
The role of Tutor in Art and Design at EIT’s IDEAschool involves delivering teaching in our creative programmes, mostly the NZ Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 3 & Level 4). The tutor is responsible for delivering curriculum, student learning, and collaboration with existing IDEAschool staff to ensure high-quality education and support for students.
This role is Part-time FTE 0.4.
NOTE: As EIT closes down over the Holiday period, Shortlisting for this role will happen after 13th January 2025.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $65,000 and $75,000 FTE, dependent on skills and experience.
The Tutor - Art and Design is based in our IDEAschool – Te Kura Ahu Taonga, EIT | Te Pūkenga reporting to the Head of School and will be responsible for:
- Course Delivery: Update curriculum, create course materials, and contribute to new course development.
- Student Learning: Define learning objectives, facilitate diverse learning experiences, and provide practical learning opportunities.
- Team Collaboration: Work with team members on curriculum development and provide academic guidance to students.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and maintain student assessments, ensuring reliability and validity through moderation activities.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Educational Background: Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in art and or design fields
- Experience: Recent and diverse experience in the creative industries sector, with teaching experience preferred.
- Specific Skills: Experience and knowledge with a range of digital design software and various visual art mediums.
- Skills: Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and leadership skills, along with good organizational and administrative abilities.
- Cultural Competence: Understanding and appreciation of cultural issues, with a commitment to a culturally sensitive environment.
