 Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Kaitiaki Marae role at EIT involves managing the marae facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained and ready for use by both internal and external groups. This position requires strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of Māori culture and protocols. This is a part time role. 

The appointing salary for this role will be between $54,810 and $61,112 FTE, dependent on skills and experience.

The Kaitiaki Marae - Marae Technician is based in our  Te Ūranga Waka | Te Pūkenga reporting to the  Pouarataki, Head of School and Poutuara, Assistant Head of School, Te Ūranga Waka and will be responsible for: 

  • Manage marae bookings and liaise with the Timetable Coordinator.
  • Organize IT and facility requirements for bookings, including parking permits and Wi-Fi passwords.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of the wharenui, wharekai, and kāuta before and after events.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain communication with staff regarding marae needs.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Good administration skills and knowledge of the Māori language and culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage time effectively.
  • Understanding and appreciation of local marae protocols and cultural sensitivity.
