Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Lecturer - Bachelor of Social Work to join our School of Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing in Hawke's Bay. This role plays a vital part in preparing future social work professionals through high-quality teaching, academic support, curriculum development, and research. Working closely with students, programme staff, academic leaders, and student support teams, the Lecturer contributes to learner success, professional practice, and the ongoing development of the Social Work programme.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $84,793 and $89,639 dependent on skills and experience.

The Lecturer - Bachelor of Social Work is based in our School of Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing in Hawke's Bay reporting to the Head of School Education, Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing and will be responsible for:

• Delivering engaging and effective teaching using contemporary learning and teaching practices.
• Developing, reviewing and updating curriculum and course documentation.
• Preparing and maintaining high-quality learning resources and teaching materials.
• Integrating te reo, tikanga and Mātauranga Māori into learning experiences.
• Creating authentic, practical and industry-relevant learning opportunities.
• Providing academic and pastoral support to students to promote success and wellbeing.
• Designing and implementing fair, valid and reliable assessment practices.
• Assessing student performance and providing timely, constructive feedback.
• Undertaking research and scholarly activity that contributes to professional practice and community outcomes.
• Collaborating with programme teams and contributing to programme development, promotion and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Master's level qualification is highly desirable.
• Current Social Worker registration.
• Recent experience in professional social work practice.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of contemporary social work approaches.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate academic activities.
• Experience supporting diverse learners to achieve successful outcomes.
• Knowledge of curriculum development and effective teaching practices.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the integration of te reo, tikanga and Māori values within teaching and learning.
• Tertiary teaching experience and a teaching qualification would be advantageous.
